Xiaomi has announced a limited edition variant of the Redmi Note 4. Called Lake Blue, this light blue variant will only be available in the top of the line 4/64GB variant starting September 4, 12PM.
The Lake Blue isn't just another variant but part of the initiative to clean up the lakes in the city of Bengaluru in India. Over the years the city has lost many of its lakes to encroachment and in the very recent past, existing lakes have become victim of pollution due to industrial waste.
Xiaomi's 'Wake the lake' project is part of the nation's overall Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Initiative) but will focus on cleaning the lakes in Bengaluru (where Xiaomi India is based) and work with the local government to plant more trees, setting up benches, setting up solar lights, outdoor fitness center with children's play area and toilets around the Kempambudhi Kere lake.
